I made this painting for my son. He is growing up so fast and I wanted him to have something that he can look at everyday that reminds him of his childhood. Every plush here has a little story. I have challenged my self to paint white roses these last few weeks. White has been a bit of a challenge for me to work with. I finally feel more comfortable with it. A rose is certainly complex. I have taken pictures of white roses as they wither. I am capturing the beautiful stage of their decay. As they wither I find so many beautiful shades of brown, gold and whites. I was in the mood to paint in bright shades of blue and purple this past week. The graphic designer in me comes out and I want clean smooth lines. This type of painting requires a few layers of the same color and a very steady hand. Lots of patience. I really find this style which comes to me so naturally. Just off my easel. I had a few birthday tulips break of the stem and decided to try painting a little more realistic this time around. I do love the results and will try glass again.
